A soft frisbee that can be used for indoor play. This is a great use for scraps.

This frisbee toy was designed for “Handmade Especially for You”. Handmade Especially for You is a 501(c)(3) charity that organizes knitters and crocheters to make handmade comfort scarves for abused women.

On average, every woman comes to a shelter with 2 1/2 children. The children are just as traumatized by domestic violence as the mother has been. So far, the mission has been directed to the women only. Receiving a comfort scarf when they arrive at the shelter gives them a big lift and helps them become receptive to what they will have to do to change their lives so they do not continue to accept abuse as a given. The counselors at the shelters also work with the kids. During the holidays, the shelters throw big parties. Many donors, including “Handmade”, provide gifts for the women and children.

Leslye saw a crocheted Frisbee in a store and thought it would be a perfect gift for the kids. She told me about it & I designed a pattern we could use. It can be used indoors and does no damage. Even if one kids throws it at another, no one will get hurt.

So use up your scraps of worsted yarn and make a few Frisbees for these children.
