Frog Petal Dress
This sleeveless dress is cool and comfortable for sunny summer weather, and its picot hem looks like the petals of the prettiest flower! The dress complements Claire Garland’s Frog doll, and is the perfect addition to your knitted frog’s wardrobe. It can be adjusted in lots of different ways, making it an ideal outfit for every occasion!
CONSTRUCTION
There are instructions for both knitting flat and in the round.
For both knitting styles, the yoke and bodice of the dress will be knitted first. You will bind off stitches as you go for the sleeves, and knit the body. Then you will perform a set of increases to create the skirt.
SKILL LEVEL
This pattern is accessible for beginners. Apart from using the basic knit and purl stitches, you will also use the kfb increase and the M1 increase. Instructions are included in the pattern, along with recommended tutorials.
GAUGE
There is no set gauge. The gauge will depend on the needle size with which you knit your frog.
YARN
You will only need a small amount of yarn for this little dress. 35-75m should be enough.
You can use any 4-ply, fingering weight or sports weight yarn. If you knitted your frog with a heavier yarn weight, instructions for adaptations are included.
I have suggested my go-to yarn above, which is:
Drops Alpaca
Drops Nord
Drops Flora
These are soft woolen yarns. But any yarn in the correct weight will work nicely.
NEEDLES
I recommend using one needle size down from the needles with which you knit your frog.
