From Summer to September is a completely reversible shawl knit on the bias that features garter stitch, fading colors and short rows that create drifting leaves. You can fade 2 similar colored skeins of yarn into one another or use one main color for the entire project. Use your mini skeins or leftover bits from other projects to create your own special shawl.
You can make it larger by repeating the foundation stitch sections or if you are running low on yarn you can finish earlier. If you need help with this, I would be more than happy to help!

Yardage Requirements:
Note on Choosing Yarn: If you do choose to pick 2 skeins of yarn to fade instead of using 1 main color, it is best to try to pick 2 skeins that have similar color properties and will both work with your contrasting colors. If you pick similar skeins of color, they will fade and blend better into one another.
MC1: Approximately 400 yards of a fingering weight yarn or if only using 1 main color, approximately 800 yards of a fingering weight yarn.
MC2: Approximately 420 yards of a fingering weight yarn.
NOTE: My skein of MC2 weighed about 107 grams and was slightly oversized, therefore, I highly recommend choosing a skein of yarn that has at least 420 yards because I only had about 5 grams of yarn left out of my MC2 skein. If you are using only 1 MC/main color then you should be fine and have enough yarn left over from the first skein.
CC1-CC11: Approximately 4-6 grams of yarn for each of 11 colors.
Needles: US 5/3.75 mm 36+ circular needle to accommodate the large number of sts
Gauge: 18 sts and 26 rows=4 inches in garter stitch after blocking
Shawl Measurements after Blocking:
21 inches from center to bottom point and 88 inches from end to end.
Notions: removable stitch markers, darning needle to weave in ends, tools for blocking your finished shawl.

Double stitch- With the yarn held in front, slip 1 st purlwise from the LH needle to the RH needle. Pull the working yarn up and over the RH needle making what looks like a double stitch. Continue working the row with directions as given in the section. On the return rows, simply knit the double st as a normal knit stitch.
