Frost Quake Snood
I will admit, I wasn’t really sure what type of pattern to call this. It isn’t technically a Snood, but it isn’t just a Hood either.
The Frost Quake is designed to be a warm, stylish, and versatile addition to your cold wear wardrobe. Designed as two separate pieces, to give you options of warmth, the inner cowl is detached from the outer snood so if you don’t need it, you don’t have to wear it.
I designed the inner cowl to fit closely to your neck, and also allow it to be pulled up over your mouth and nose on those artic days to help protect your face from the cold.
The Outer Snood, (Hooded Cowl) is extremely comfortable, and designed to fit close to your head and ears to prevent cold drafts. Best of all, this hood doesn’t interfere with your vision or make wearing your glasses difficult, which can be an issue with normal beanies. (Model in my photos is my granddaughter, who wanted to be my model for this pattern. Unfortunately, I was in New York, and this is the only size I had with me. It is a bit too big for her, hood actually is designed to fit closer than this)
The cowl portions of this pattern are worked in the round, and then the hood portion is worked flat, after attaching your yarn to the Outer Cowl. You have the option of adding fur or not. You also have the option of adding snaps to the Inner and Outer Cowl to join them together if you choose.
