I had a pair of socks with polar bears on it when I was little. This sock pattern is inspired by that old pair of socks and make me reminisce to those good old times. I have spent so many lovely winter evenings with my family, comfy and cozy and watching movies together. ♥

KEY INFORMATION

Sizes: Adults. Length and circumference are both adjustable.

Measurements: Foot circumference: 22 cm / 9 inches. You can adjust the foot circumference by using bigger or smaller needles. I liked mine to be a little looser because I will wear them at home only. The length is also adjustable.

Gauge: 30 stitches x 41 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) after blocking.

Suggested needles: 2.50 mm circular or double pointed needles (US 1.5). Remember this is a recommendation; please knit a gauge swatch.

Materials: A total of 250-300 m / 275-350 yards of fingering weight sock yarn in multiple colours. Sample on photo is knitted in the following colours:
Colour A: white
Colour B: dark blue
Colour C: red
Colour D: black

CONSTRUCTION NOTES

Frosty Bear Socks are knitted top down and seamlessly. First you knit the picot cuff, fold double and knit together. Then knit another picot in red and continue knitting the leg. The leg is finished with big fair isle snowflakes (chart A) and little snowflakes (single stitches). Shape the heel with German short rows. The foot is knitted in two colours and finished with the pine tree pattern from chart B. Shape the toes. Knit the scarf and ears. Embroider the face on the socks.
