When the freezing temperatures of winter set in, waterfalls freeze in stalactite formations at the foot of cliffs. Imagine such a wintery scene, with lattice cables nested between ribbed columns, worked in icy shades of tweed for natural effect – a cool look offset by woollen warmth!
This pattern has been tech edited and tested - with heartfelt thanks to my talented group of knitters!
Construction
These mitts are worked bottom up in the round. They are cast on and bound off in 1/1 ribbing using the tubular method for knitting in the round. The cables and ribbing pattern of the hands has a cable design on the mitt front, a textured rib design on the underside, and a defining rib on either side. The right hand mirrors the left hand, with the cables on each hand slanting toward the other when the mitts are held together. The thumbs are designed without a gusset. Stitches for the thumb opening are put on hold, then picked up and worked in the round once the hand is completed.
