Knitting makes sense for the green cactus body, since the real cactus looks ribbed. Crochet bobbles are a quick and easy topping, like icing on a cake.

Yarn requirements: worsted weight acrylic or wool for the body, DK/sport weight yellow for fruit, any splitty brown yarn for the former-flower sprigs. Mainly, you want a thinner yarn for the fruit bobbles than the green cactus.
