A fun and cosy hat inspired by the puffins of Sumburgh Head. The hat is knitted in the round using stranded colourwork with the crown depicting puffin bills.

Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight (100% Real Shetland Wool; 15m 125yds per 25g ball)
MC: Shade 203 (grey) 1 x 25g ball
CC1: Shade 77 (black) 1 x 25g ball
CC2: Shade 1A (white) 1 x 25g ball
CC3: Shade 142 (blue) 1 x 25g ball
CC4: Shade 91 (yellow) 1 x 25g ball
CC5: Shade 9097 (red) 1 x 25g ball

These yarn quantities are for the hat. To make the hat and mittens, you will require 2 x 25g balls each of MC (shade 203; grey) and CC1 (shade 77; black).

Tension
30 sts and 36 rounds to 10cm 4in over colour work stocking stitch worked in the round using 3.25mm UK 10/US 3 knitting needles

26 sts and 50 rounds to 10cm 4in over garter stitch worked in the round using 3.25mm UK 10/US 3 knitting needles.

You may require different sized needles to achieve the correct tension over both stitch patterns.
