These full mittens match the Feather Cap Beanie pattern, with pattern and colours inspired by my flock of beautiful hens. The pattern is knit in the round and uses stranded knitting techniques. It features two sizes to fit teen/small adult and medium/large adult, two styles of edging to the cuff, and two styles of thumb, making this a very versatile, adaptable and non-gender specific pattern. The stranded knitting makes these mittens cosy, and the folded cuff adds even more warmth for the delicate wrist area.
It uses the following techniques, most of which have links in the pattern to videos and photo-tutorials:
Estonian two-colour braided cast on
Judy Becker’s Magic Cast on
Latvian Braid
3-needle bind off
grafting/Kitchener stitch
stranded knitting
knitting in the round
folded hem

The mittens are knit in Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift, using 4 background colours and 6 feather colours, making this an ideal pattern to use up small amounts of leftover yarns.
