From the pattern:

What’s the difference between fulling and felting? Felting is essentially the matting of fibers together. Fulling is the matting of knitted or woven fabric. Both shrink. Individual stitches in knitted, fulled fabric are often not recognizable as stitches. This entrelac tote is a great way to learn this cool technique. Knitting begins in rounds, switches to rows in the entrelac section, and then returns to rounds as you complete the tote. Let’s get started!
