The construction is basic top-down raglan with ribbed button and buttonhole bands and edges, but the real benefit of the pattern is that it includes instruction for making this classic cardigan in four different gauges, meaning four different yarn weights (6, 5, 4, and 3 sts to the inch). It’s like having four patterns in one. The sample shown (and yarn listed) is just one example of how you can use this pattern.

The fundamental patterns are all excellent for using hand-dyed yarns and for juggling different colors for striping. You could use any yarn in your stash to make yourself (or your man) a cozy cardigan that will never be out of style.

Eight sizes and four yarn weights…you could make 24 different sweaters from just this pattern alone. Have fun!
