Funilla Socks
Use the code FUNILLA for 20% off until Sunday November 23rd!
At first sight, the “Funilla” Socks are simple stockinette socks with contrasting heel, cuff and toe. But they feature some fun techniques to spice up your standard vanilla sock knitting process:
My simple and unusual heel construction, the “Lazy Reversible Heel”, can either be knitted toe-up or cuff-down, depending on your preference. The heel is constructed with a simple short row method using ssk/k2tog and picking up the stitches later out of these decreases. This technique creates an interesting line at the sides of the heel and can be used toe-up or cuff-down using the exact same instructions.
An elastic folded picot cuff adds a different look to the Funilla Socks and the pattern guides you how to bind it off to achieve an elastic cuff edge in both directions.
For the main fabric of the foot and leg, we are alternating a contrasting color with the main color each round.
The pattern is written for magic loop knitting. But for an experienced sock knitter, it would be easy to adapt it to DPNs as well.
SIZES 1 (2) 3
fitting european sizes: 36-38 (39-41) 42-45 or US sizes: 5.5 -7 (7.5 -9) 9.5 -11.5
finished foot & leg circumference: 16 (18) 20 cm or 6.5 (7.25) 8 inches -> 56 (64) 72 sts
-> The sock is supposed to have negative ease!
Note: If you know you have narrow feet and/or are a loose knitter, consider knitting a smaller size and adjust the length of the foot or using a smaller needle in order to achieve gauge.
Choose the size with the number of sts you normally use for stockinette socks.
