Disclaimers

Tested in Sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Sizes 6 - 9 are still included in the pattern. If you are interested in testing Size 6 - Size 9, please get in contact and I would love to give you a free copy of the pattern in exchange for working on a test knit together.

There have been some modifications to the original sweater that I am wearing in the photos (adjusted collar, fixed some uneven pattern repeat sections).

Garment Construction

The garment is worked bottom up in the round until under arm. Then divided into front and back, which are worked separately. Shoulders are seamed together using mattress stitch. Stitches are picked up along the sleeve openings and knit in the round. Stitches are picked up along the neckline and knit in the round.

A pattern repeat is provided for the sleeves that can be repeated until desired length before working the wristband ribbing. Estimated sleeve lengths are included, however final length will be up to you as the knitter.

Sizes

Sizes throughout are written as 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9) and intended to fit bust sizes: 75 (80, 90, 100, 110) (120, 130, 140, 150) cm / 29.5 (31, 35, 39, 43) (47, 51, 55, 59)”

The garment is intended to have 27.6 - 29.4 cm / 10.8 - 11.6” positive ease.

This is an oversized sweater with a rather short length, intended to fit well with high waisted pants. If you prefer a longer length, make sure to have extra yarn!

Materials/Needle Size Suggestions

Circular needles were used for the entirety of the project. If testers did not have 4.5 mm / 7 US / 7 UK circular needles with short cable lengths, they used double pointed needles.

4.5 mm / 7 US / 7 UK double pointed needles or shorter cable lengths
7 mm / 2 UK circular knitting needles (cable lengths used were 60 cm and 30 cm)
8 mm / 11 US / 0 UK circular knitting needles (cable lengths used were 60cm and 30 cm)
10 mm / 15 US / 000 UK circular knitting needles (cable length used was 60 cm)
Tapestry needle
Waste yarn

Note: some testers did not have 7 mm / 2 UK needles and found success using their 8 mm / 11 US / 0 UK needles instead.

Additional gauge information provided in the PDF pattern for the sleeve repeats and collar.

Yardage Estimates

Note: Testers for Size 2, 3, 4, and 5 used less yarn than expected. Size 1 and two Size 3 testers needed the 10% buffer. I highly suggest referring to the yardage estimates including a 10% buffer, as sleeve length will be determined by your preferred length.

Estimates: 530 (555, 596, 622, 658) (706, 717, 775, 812) m / 579 (608, 653, 680, 719) (772, 783, 847, 887) yards

Estimates with 10% buffer: 582 (612, 657, 684, 723) (777, 788, 853, 893) m / 637 (669, 718, 749, 791) (850, 862, 932, 977) yards

Tester Results:

Size 1: 567 m / 620 yds
Size 2: 491 m / 537 yds
Size 3 (three different knitters): 553, 630, 635 m / 604, 688, 695 yds
Size 4: 559 m / 612 yds
Size 5: 562 m / 615 yds

Note: Size 2, 3 and 4 used Drops Andes Wool. Size 1 used Lionbrand Thick & Quick (it worked, but was twice as heavy). Size 3 used Wool Addicts Trust. Size 5 used Charisma by Loops & Threads.
