I love those big pompom on the top of hats. I really wanted to try one with fur yarn and this is what I came up with. I was really shocked with how fluffy it turned out. And it is crocheted, I didn’t use a pompom maker.

I have made these with fun fur yarn (the all brown one in the 2nd picture) and Lion Brand Romance yarn (the all white in the 2nd picture) they work well too.
