These adorable socks for kids are knit cuff down in the round with two main colors and the animal face and ears are added after knitting by using duplicate stitch, also known as Swiss darning.

There are many wonderful tutorials available online for learning this technique which is handy for adding embellishments to knitwear AND for reinforcing worn clothing before holes develop.

The name “Fushkies” comes from how my Dad referred to my siblings and I when we were little. I don’t think it’s a real word but a Ukrainian-Canadian-ism that probably means something along the lines of “little imps!” If you grew up hearing little terms like this, let me know!

You will need:
-approx 30-50g yarn in MC 1
-approx 50-75g yarn in MC 2
-approx 5g yarn in black
-stitch markers
-tapestry needle
-needles in the correct size (2.0-2.5 mm) needed to obtain gauge, and a smaller size for ribbing

The pattern is written to accommodate any of the following needle types: double pointed needles, short circulars, or long circulars for magic loop.
