Fynbos Fantasy - A Shawl for Miensie.

This beautiful shawlette was inspired by the first Yarn Klub box by the very talented Miensie from Knotty Habit. Miensie created 3 beautiful boxes named after well-known regions in South Africa.

“Fynbos” is the collective Afrikaans name for a small belt of natural shrubland located in the Cape coastal provinces of South Africa. South Africa’s national flower, the King Protea, is perhaps the most famous species of fynbos.

The shawlette is perfect for Spring or Autumn and has loads of texture. An ideal smaller project to practice Broomstick lace before progressing to either my Summer Glow Top or Rubies & Lace Sweater pattern.

The pattern offers easy to follow instructions with a link to a Broomstick lace tutorial. Although considered an intermediate level pattern due to the relatively unknown Broomstick lace stitch, an adventurous beginner should also be able to follow the pattern.

Intermediate/Adventurous Beginner

One size fits all - It is considered a small shawl /shawlette

The first 9 rows of the pattern serves as the gauge swatch.
