Gabul Cardigan
Gabul Cardigan is an oversized cardigan with V-neck shaping. The cardigan is knitted seamlessly from the bottom-up with sleeves worked separately and attached to the body later. Shaping of the body is worked with raglan decreases. In the end, the collar and button band is worked in one piece by picking up stitches along the body of the cardigan.
Sizes available: XS, S, M, (L, XL, 2XL), 3XL, 4XL, 5XL
To fit bust circumference: cm - 75, 85, 95, (105, 115, 125), 135, 145, 155 / in - 30, 34, 38, (42, 46, 50), 54, 58, 62
The cardigan is designed to have 26.75 - 28.25 cm (9.75 - 10.75 in) of positive ease.
Yarn:
Any chunky/bulky weight yarn. Suggested yarn options:
Alpachino Merino (Wool and The Gang) - 60% Merino Wool 40% Baby Alpaca - 100m/100g
BIOLOGICA (BettaKnit) - 70% Organic Wool, 30% Alpaca – 50m/50g
Andes (DROPSdesign) - 65% Wool, 35% Alpaca – 96m/100g
Yardage (m/yd):
715, 785, 845, (935, 980, 1075), 1145, 1260, 1310 m/780, 860, 925, (1025, 1070, 1175), 1255, 1380, 1435 yds
Needles:
6.5 mm (US size 10½) circular needle, min. 80 cm cord (ribbing sections)
9 mm (US size 13) circular needle, min. 80 cm cord (body of cardigan – stockinette stitch)
In this pattern, the sleeves are worked with the magic loop technique. In case you don’t prefer this technique, you will also need 6.5 mm (US size 10 ½) double-pointed needles and 9 mm (US size 13) double-pointed needles/circular needle (40-60cm cord)
Notions:
4 buttons (or as many as desired)
Knitting tension/gauge: 10x10 cm/4x4 in = 10.5 stitches x 14 rows stockinette worked flat with 9 mm (US 13) needles.
