Galiano is a reversible moebius cowl that is deeper and narrower than most moebius scarves or cowls, so that it can be worn in one layer around the neck or up over the head like a hood. It starts with Cat Bordhi’s moebius cast on and moves out from there in a reversible geometric stitch to a contrasting border. Instructions are given for both an I-cord bind off (as in the sample) and a rolled edge.

Needle length: 47”/120cm. You will need 2 skeins (340 yds/ 310m) of MC (Frank’s Plum) and approximately 50 yds/46m of CC (Kittywake). For the I-cord edge only, you will also need a US10.75/7.0mm needle, any length.

Galiano is made in a plied, lofty, Aran weight wool for softness, stitch definition, and squishable warmth. It is very quick to knit, and the stitch pattern is easy to read and memorize, making Galiano a great portable project. Both charted and written instructions are provided.

Galiano and its sister pattern, Saturna, are available together as the Gulf Islands Gifts e-book for $7 USD.
