The Gangalee Socks are a cuff-down sock, crocheted in the round, with an after-thought heel that is crocheted at the end. Mosaic crochet charts are included for the mosaic crochet pattern around the leg and along the top of the foot.

Skill level: intermediate.

Pattern is written in four sizes (1, 2, 3, 4) to accommodate ankle/foot width circumferences of 7-10 inches, with additional customization to appropriate foot length. Please be sure to read the Fit & Measurements section and the Notes & Tips boxes of the pattern for guidance on what size to make and adjustments to improve fit.

The pattern uses 4 colors of fingering weight yarn; however can be made with as few as 2 colors. Select at least two highly contrasting colors to best showcase the mosaic crochet pattern. For sample shown on the pattern cover, approximate yardage for size 2 sock:
Yarn A (white): 115 yards - mosaic crochet pattern, ankle and toe stripe
Yarn B (yellow): 100 yards - mosaic crochet pattern
Yarn C (blue): 100 yards - cuff, ankle stripe, toe
Yarn D (brown): 25 yards - ankle and toe stripes

For socks, it is recommended to select a durable fibre with stretch, such as a wool/nylon blend, as the natural fibres of the wool provide warmth and absorb sweat, and the addition of nylon provides strength. Cotton in not generally recommended, unless part of a blend made specifically for socks. Acrylic is not recommended.

Please note that the overlay mosaic crochet stitches used in the leg of the sock provides some stretch, but unfortunately may not provide enough stretch to fit over the heel of all foot shapes. The pattern provides some alternative options to assist with fit.

Pattern has been thoroughly tested by pattern testers of varying foot sizes and shapes, but please feel free to reach out to me via email at yarnandfabric.yc@gmail.com for additional pattern support.

Happy crocheting!
