Both trivet and coasters are knit in rows using unwrapped short-rows and then are seamed to finish them.

I love how this works up in a multicolored cotton yarn. You can, of course, use a solid color as well. Or use up bits and have 4 different colored coasters, or…

Measurements: trivet - 9.5 inches/ 23.75 cm across; coaster - 5 inches/12.5 cm across

Gauge: 5sts & 10 rows = 1 inch/ 2.5 cm in Garter stitch

Materials: for 1 trivet and 4 coasters

  • 155 yds worsted weight cotton yarn (Sample set shown knit in Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Ombrés & Prints (100% cotton; 68 yds/62 m = 42g) in “Mistletoe Ombre”)
  • size 4.0 mm/US 6 knitting needles, for working flat
  • tapestry needle

Skills/Techniques Used:

  • short rows in garter stitch (explained in the pattern)
  • sewing short seams in garter stitch fabric

Your purchase includes 2 pattern files; one is my “standard” file and the other is a low vision file which is completely in a sans serif 24pt font in all black type, has been fully left justified, and the promo photo is captioned. Both files are complete and self-contained allowing the knitter to choose which works best for them. There are no charts for this pattern.
