Oregonians take their Gardening seriously. It all started when Settlers moving West brought cuttings of their prized plants with them on the Oregon Trail - inluding our namesake Rose! Portland has a world-class Test Rose Garden, plus Japanese and Chinese gardens that are considered the most authentic in the US. Oregonians designed the first Organic Gardening Certification program, which became the model for the nation. The Hardy Plant Socity of Portland hosts an annual plant sale called “Hortlandia” and Garden Gnomes dot many a Portland back yard. PDX is a great place to Garden!
