The scarf explores variations of the “gull’ or ‘gull cable’ stitch, a set of cross-overs that can be worked either by dropping sts intentionally, or by using a traditional cable needle. In my knitting, I used the drop-stitch method but you can choose the method that suits your comfort level and experience.

The scarf begins with a long-tail cast-on and is worked flat. A generous use of garter stitches for the borders at both ends creates a staggered effect to the columns and gently widens the ends of the scarf.

Finished Measurements: Approx. 70” (178cms) in length and 8” (20cms) in width.

Yarn: Purl Soho’s Cashmere Merino Bloom, 75% Extra Fine Merino, 25% Cashmere: Light Worsted/DK-Weight Yarn, Skeins: 3.

Notions: US 6/4mm, straight or circular needles.

Gauge: 6 sts x 12 rows= 1” in Garter. Not critical.
