Garterly Yours Gloves
Master the art of the sideways glove!
This pattern moves beyond traditional glove construction. While garter stitch itself is the “comfort food” of knitting, the architecture of this glove is quite sophisticated. It requires you to be comfortable with spatial reasoning and “trusting the process” even when the piece doesn’t look like a glove yet.
Garterly Yours gloves are worked entirely flat (sideways) and use strategic short rows to create anatomical shaping at the fingertips, finger valleys and thumb gusset.
PATTERN HIGHLIGHTS
- Unisex design – fits like a glove!
- 100% garter stitch for warmth and squishiness
- Seamless finish with anatomical shaping
- Knitter-friendly layout: divided into 10 distinct panels for easy tracking
- Quick turnaround: despite the unconventional build, the DK weight yarn ensures a fast knit.
TECHNIQUES PLAYGROUND
The pattern offers different options for provisional cast on (PCO) and grafting, including the Long-tail, Crochet-Chain, and Figure-8 PCO. Because the fingers are cast on and grafted as you go, this project is an excellent “technique playground.” Try out the different PCO and grafting methods to find your personal favourite for future projects.
