This pullover is the product of great timing and great people; designed for my trunk show at Gather Downtown LA. I was immediately inspired by the Republic of Wool colorway Smith & Wesson making it an obvious choice for the surprising openwork back.
The piece is worked flat starting at the back hem in Mesh Stitch using Smith & Wesson as a contrasting color, it then continues over the shoulders where the main color is joined and the front is completed in Stockinette and Garter before binding off at the front hem. The sides are then seamed to the underarm. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armhole and knit in rounds with simple decreases, creating a lovely dolman half sleeve. This is a great project for a newer knitter as there is very little shaping and all of the stitches are simple to follow and memorize. More experienced knitters will find it a relaxing project that knits up relatively quickly.
