Gathering Waters
“But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”
- Amos 5:24 (Holy Bible, English Standard version)
Like its little sister Rising Tides, Gathering Waters incorporates dot and wave motifs. The top of this shallow crescent shawl is the same simple open dot motif shaped with short rows. Each transitional area is marked by a decorative Estonian stitch, with different lacy wave and dot patterns falling between. A beautiful elaborated print of the wave motif is used as a knitted on edging.

Please welcome The Lace Knitters Society 2026! This is a special club for serious lovers of lace knitting AND for those who want to dip a toe in with other lace lovers, but don’t want to commit to a larger project. There will be a total of seven patterns in the ebook: three larger shawl patterns in lace weight yarn, three smaller and simpler fingering weight patterns based on the lace weight shawls, and a bonus end-of-year mashup using motifs from the previous patterns. I want us all to be able to knit lace together! The larger lace weight patterns will all be in the general style of past clubs, and the smaller fingering weight patterns will be based on motifs in the larger shawls, but will be simpler and less time consuming to knit. The patterns will each have a medium and tall size included. The medium size lace weight shawl will use from 700-950 yards. The tall lace weight shawl size will vary, but in general will use at least 1200 yards. The medium size fingering weight shawl will use from 350-400 yards, and the tall fingering weight shawl will generally use about 550-700 yards.
As mentioned above, the club will include seven total new Romi lace patterns. Each pattern will have associated YouTube Lives where I’ll be going over techniques (these will have a permanent home and may be viewed indefinitely)! We will also have two zoom get-togethers per pattern. This club is all about coming together to share our love of lace. I want you all to feel welcome, no matter how much lace you’ve knitted!
2026 estimated schedule (subject to change):
- Fingering and lace weight patterns out mid April
- Fingering and lace weight patterns out early August
- Fingering and lace weight patterns out late November
- Mash-up pattern out late January 2027
Single club patterns will not be available to the public until February of 2027, at which time they will be listed on Ravelry.com and on DBR for general purchase.
Happy lace knitting!
