Three stitch patterns from a Dutch knitting sampler were combined in the design of the Gazelle Mitts. There are two versions to choose from: one in a single colour with knit-and-purl diagonals and diamonds on the palm and the back of the hand, and one with the same diagonals and diamonds picked out in a contrasting colour. With bicycle rides on chilly days in mind, the mitts were named for the designer’s trusty Gazelle bicycle.

Pattern notes
The Gazelle Mitts are worked in the round from the cuff up. A photo tutorial shows how to pick up stitches for the ‘afterthought’ thumb. Although the two versions look very different, they follow the same basic pattern. Charts are provided for the diamonds-and-diagonals pattern on the hands.
