The Gefa Shawl is a triangular shawl. The shawl is knitted in garter stitch using short rows throughout. First, you work the center section of the shawl from the top down before adding the left and right sections modularly. The resting live stitches on either side are bound off to create a uniform bottom edge. The pattern is written such that colors change as seamless as possible. The sample version uses two colors, though you may play with as many colors as you prefer.

CHANGING COLORS
Carry the unused yarn on the back when alternating colors for the stripes. Place the new yarn under the old yarn and continue knitting. Do this the same way whenever you change colors; it will look pretty on the wrong side.

SHORT ROWS
The pattern uses the Wrap and Turn technique. Though you may use your preferred method.
• wrap and turn: Keep yarn in back, slip next stitch purlwise from left needle to right needle, bring yarn to front, return slipped stitch to left needle, then turn work.
• knit with wrap tbl: Keep yarn in back, knit the stitch and the wrap together, both through the back loops. Knitting through the back loops keeps the integrity of the garter stitch pattern on the right side.
• knit without wrap: Keep yarn in back, knit the stitch without its wrap.

This pattern has not been tech edited nor test knitted and is therefore provided for free.
