This pattern is for a simple but striking two-color stranded colorwork cowl. Made with super bulky yarn, it works up in a day or two and is incredibly warm. The optional use of different needle sizes for the top and bottom ribbing allows for a slightly flared bottom, which sits nicely on the shoulders.

The Gelid Cowl is a great first colorwork pattern. Though there is not a full tutorial on stranded colorwork, tips are included for keeping an even tension. Color charts are provided in both white-on-black and black-on-white forms to accommodated different choices of main color. No written instructions are given for the colorwork pattern.

Level: Advanced beginner.

Yarn: Two colors of super bulky (6) weight yarn. Sample used Cascade Yarns Magnum Tweed in Storm Blue (MC) and Ecru (CC). You will need approximately 80 yd MC and 40 yd CC.
