Generosity Cowl & Wristers
Generosity is something we’re taught as children but often forget to practice as adults. It doesn’t have to be large, grand gestures but is often the small things that can have the biggest impact. As the 17th century writer and nonconformist preacher John Bunyan put it, “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
Number 9 in my A Single Candle series, the Generosity Cowl & Wristers are worked in a simple color stranded houndstooth check pattern; the cowl is worked in the round, and the pattern is easy enough to work back and forth for the wristers.
Gusto Wool Echoes comes as a pair of identical 50 gram skeins, each the same color fade gradient from end to end. By beginning at opposite ends of each skein, the colors fade beautifully to create a shifting design that seems more complex than it is.
Finished Measurements:
Cowl: 20 3/4” / 52.5 cm circumference and 7” / 18 cm long.
Wristers: 6 (7 1/4, 8)“ / 15 (18.5, 20.5) cm hand circumference and 5 (5, 5 1/2)” / 12.5 (12.5, 14) cm long.
Yarn Needed:
1 pair of 50 gram skeins will make both pieces for all sizes.
Cowl: 223 yds / 204 m total
Wristers: 151 (165, 196) yds / 138 (151, 179) m total
You’ll also need 10 buttons, 9/16” / 15 mm diameter.
