Knitting Pattern for a Classic Raglan Cardigan with a Round Neck, an Eye-catching Cable-Lace-Pattern and Decorative Raglan Cables in Sizes XS/S | M | L/XL (2XL | 3XL | 4XL) 5XL

Structure:
The cardigan is worked as a classic raglan design from the top down. First, the yoke is shaped with classic raglan increases along the raglan cables. To shape the round neck, the first few centimeters are worked with additional increases along the front panels for the neckline. When the round neck shaping is finished, the cardigan is worked in cable-lace-pattern with raglan increases along the raglan cables only. Then, the sleeves are separated from the body and the stitches are put on hold on a separate rope or leftover yarn. The body is now finished in cable-lace-pattern without increases and finished off with a hem in 1x1 twisted ribbing. Now, the sleeve stitches are picked up again and the sleeves are finished in the round in cable-lace-pattern. Shortly before the cuffs, you will work a bunch of decreases for a balloon-like sleeve shape. The cuffs are then worked in 1x1 twisted ribbing matching the body hem. Last, but not least, stitches are picked up along the neckline to work a collar in double knitting and then, the front parts are finished off with a double knitted button band as well.
The fit of the cardigan is slightly oversized due to relatively small amount of positive ease (5 to 15 cm). The length is relatively short, but of course it can be adapted due to the individual body shape and preferences as the cardigan is worked top down and can be tried on during the process. The highlight of the design is the intricated cable-lace-pattern, which flows out of the raglan lines and creates a sophisticated, elegant and timeless look with a special twist!
