The Gertie Pinafore is a layering dress design to be worn over shirts and blouses made almost entirely out of granny stripe stitch. Made using cosy acrylic DK yarn, it’s a perfect versatile layer for cooler Autumn days. With a square neck and long straps, it’s a modern take on the popular pinafore silhouette.

The dress is worked in the round for the most part, splitting for the front and back panels, which means the only seaming required is the shoulder straps. It’s designed for the hem to hang around mid-thigh, but it can be made longer or shorter depending on your preference!

Hip sizes given as XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X): 85 (92, 108, 115, 123, 138, 146, 154, 161) cm requiring 821 (920, 1035, 1177, 1300, 1447, 1580, 1643, 1734) metres of DK-weight cotton yarn (any plant fibre will achieve a similar drape).

This pattern is available in both UK & US terminology so you don’t have to translate stitches!
