The Getaway Shawl is knit sideways, or corner-to-corner, with soothing sections of stockinette and easy-to-memorize Purse Stitch Lace. I started this design craving an easy, yet engaging knit, and also something that wouldn’t require me to bind off many stitches at the end (this shawl starts and ends with only 4 stitches!). The result is this long, wing-shaped shawl that you can easily wrap around your neck for coziness or drape across your shoulders with ease. Topped off with titillating tassels, this was truly a delight to make, and I hope that you love it as much as I do!

While the sample is knit in one color, a gorgeous variegated yarn, you can also hold fingering weight double with a lace weight yarn and fade the shawl. You could also stripe each section, or use those scraps you’ve been meaning to get out of your stash. The possibilities are literally endless, and with the Getaway Shawl’s simple instructions, you can truly make it your own!
