THIS DESIGN was inspired by a beautiful section of carved stone at Ghent train station in Belgium. The initial design development was the subject of my third ‘Notes from my Sketchbook’ article in The Knitter Magazine Issue 146. For this sweater, I have extended my original swatch into a combined cable and ridged feather and fan repeat. The feather and fan stitch pattern creates a bend in the otherwise straight ridges, and also joins the cables horizontally. The drop sleeves have a section of curved cables placed centrally.
