A faux fur hat with a fun, unusual “colpack” construction.

The hat is started from the top of the crown with a provisional cast on then an inserted i-cord is worked to provide a rounded corner on the edge.

The outer stranded part is worked in the round to the bottom of the hat, then another i-cord rounded corner is worked before knitting the inner lining in the color used for CC during the stranded colorwork.

When the lining has reached the same height of the stranded colorwork, the lining is inserted inside the hat and worked together with the CO edge.
If a real “colpack” feel is desired, it’s recommended to insert a piece of felt or a plastic sheet between the lining and the colorwork, to make the hat “standing” as a real russian fur hat.

The top of the hat is made from the stitches resulting from knitting the lining and the hat together.
