This pouf, knit with soft cotton cord, makes a sturdy seat or footrest. The knitting part could not be easier — it’s just a basic garter stitch — and you can stuff your pouf with just about anything: fiberfill, pillows, upholstery foam, bean bag pellets, or old blankets or fabric scraps.

This pattern shows you how to knit and assemble rope poufs in three sizes (giant, XXLG, and XLG), plus information on where to find the cotton rope and how to dye it to match your decor.

The materials are pricey, especially for the giant size. Rope costs about $35 per 100 yards.
