Needles: Set of 8mm (US 11, UK 0) double pointed knitting needles, or size needed to achieve gauge

Gauge: 11 sts , 16 rows = 4x4 inch square in knit
Other Materials: tapestry needle for weaving in ends
fur pompoms, if desired (instructions included for yarn pompoms)

The stocking is worked in the round, starting at the top. The heel flap is worked in rows, while the instep sts are held on a spare needle. You will then pick up a series of sts on each side of the heel flap, and continue working in the round. A series of decreases help shape the foot.

The mitten is also worked in the round, starting at the top (cuff). After the cuff is knit, you will be placing a series of markers, and increasing for the thumb gusset. The thumb sts will be placed on a holder (or scrap yarn), while the hand portion of the mitten is finished. You will then go back, put the thumb sts on your needles, and continue by knitting the thumb in the round.
