Gibson Sweater
The Gibson Sweater is a uniquely constructed sweater with details reminiscent of the Edwardian era, making this a fun project for those looking to shake up their knitting queue. Knitting starts at either cuff, working up the sleeve. The front and back body are knit sideways continuously from the sleeves, giving this sweater a distinctive silhouette. Kitchener stitch is used to graft the two body halves together in the back. Stitches are picked up at the neckline which is subtly curved in the front using German short rows. Stitches are picked up in the round for the body and knit in 1x1 ribbing until the desired length is achieved. To finish, buttons are sewn to the button band and an I-cord can be knitted and woven into the neckline for a bow tie detail.
Sizing
The Gibson Sweater is graded for a bust size range of 28-64 inches [71-162.5 centimeters] with an intended maximum of 10% negative ease across all sizes. Due to this maximum, sizes 1 and 2 have an ease range that extends slightly into the positive direction as well as the negative direction. Find your bust measurement below to determine suggested sizing.
