Everyone knows babies are a gift. Welcome them to the world with this pixie style bonnet knit up in something soft for snuggling! Work it in a cotton blend for a summer baby or in soft wool for the colder months.

Gift Wrap is written in 4 sizes to fit a range of babies and children (and even the spritely adult now and then). Design features include shaping at the neck and plenty of ear and neck coverage to keep out the wind. Instructions are given for a striped or solid hat and a button closure or i-cord ties. Simple enough for the advanced beginner or a beginner wanting to stretch a little.

Finished Measurements
Height: 6 (7, 8, 9)”
Depth: 5 (6, 7, 8)”

Materials
Yarn: In worsted to aran weight yarn you will need approximately 85 (100, 120, 145) yards or 75 (90, 110, 130) meters. If you choose a contrasting color yarn for the button band and hem, it should be about 20% of your total yardage.
If you choose to work the bonnet in stripes with CC borders your yarn should be divided as follows: color A=40%, color B=40%, CC=20%.

Needles: 16” circular needles in US sizes 8 (5mm) and 6 (4mm) or size required to obtain gauge and two sizes smaller and 2 dpns in larger size.

Notions: Darning needle for weaving in ends, and 1button about ⅝ - ¾” in diameter (optional for Button Tab closure).
