BONUS! Gigi is the baby version of the girls’
A Little Something cardigan. If you purchase Gigi, get A Little Something for free, and vice-versa. No expiration date on this promotion.

Gigi is a top-down cardigan with lots of vintage appeal. It features a simple faux-bobble pattern on the lower body and set-in sleeves which are worked simultaneously with the upper body. It’s worked from the top down and is completely seamless. There is about 2” of positive ease at the chest, and more on the lower body. Options are included for a rolled edging or a folded eyelet hem at the bottom, and for long or short sleeves. A matching bonnet completes the charming retro look.

yarnymama made some sweet mods on the sleeves and edgings (turquoise cardi in last picture), which she will describe on her project page.

Available sizes are: 3M/6M/12M/2Y, based on actual chest measurements of 16/17/18/20 inches (40/43/46/51 cm)

Gauge: 22 st/4” in stockinette st.

Needles:

  • Long circular needle, size US 5/3.75 mm, or size needed to obtain gauge, for the body
  • 4 double-pointed needles in the same size as the body needle, for sleeves.
  • Circular or straight needle 1 or 2 sizes smaller than body needle, for neckband and button bands
  • 4 double-pointed needles 1 or 2 sizes smaller than body needle, for cuffs

Yarn:
You will need about 280/340/450/540 yards (256/310/412/502meters) DK-weight yarn for long-sleeved version with folded hem and full-length button band, lesser amounts for other versions. For the bonnet you will need approximately 100/130/160 yards (91/119/146 meters).

You will also need 1 stitch holder, scrap yarn, 4 stitch markers, and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Note: During the test of this pattern, yardages achieved by the testers were somewhat inconsistent. The yardage estimates I’ve provided reflect the higher amounts of yarn that were needed.
