The Gillies Grove Toque and Cowl set was designed for my husband for our walks through the old-growth forests of Gillies Grove, one of Canada’s National Historic sites. He wanted something warm and comfortable in a classic design. I wanted something I could ‘borrow’ from him and look equally cute in. This is the result.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
153 yards (cowl) and 130 yards (hat) worsted weight yarn in aran
83 yards (cowl) and 47 yards (hat) worsted weight yarn in dark grey
5.0mm (US 8) 16” circular knitting needles
4.0mm (US 6) 16” circular knitting needles
5.0mm (US 8) DPNs (optional)
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Pom pom or pom pom maker (optional)

SKILLS NEEDED:

• knit, purl, knit 2 together
• working in the round
• stranded colourwork
• following written patterns & following colourwork charts

Hat: Laying flat, with brim unfolded: 12” (30cm) tall and 9 ½” (24cm) across

Cowl: Laying flat, 11.5” (29cm) across (circumference of 23” / 58 cm) and 13 ” (33cm) tall.
