Gin and Juice is all about cable texture and the subtle difference created by working one motif in two ways. Simple details tie it all together - a bit of texture along the front edges, a faux seam under each arm, and a classic ribbed collar that can be worn flat or folded back. Worn flat, it adds to the loose swing of the cardigan, and when folded back, it adds just a bit of polish while allowing the sweater to hug your body a little more.

The cables themselves are deep and satisfying - both to knit and to look at! I made sure that armhole shaping leaves them intact, so the lines along the sides are clean and consistent.

The sweater silhouette is a classic one -- an open cardigan with a loose, swingy fit goes with almost anything, and straight lines allow for easy modifications for fit. (Yes, notes are in pattern on how and where to do so)

ERRATA: typo on setup row 2, WS (p4) there is one set of (6,8,8) at end of second line that should match all the other brackets with an (8,8,10). I’ll fix this today and update the pattern - sorry!

As for the yarn, this is my second design in Magpie Fibers new Nest Worsted. The perfect worsted weight, the soft Corriedale fiber, and the gorgeous overdye of color on natural gray fall into my sweet spot, and I’m a little obsessed. This yarn LOVES a cable, shows off a detail beautifully, and is wonderful to work with. I may already have a third project on the needles.

Sample is knit in Twilight Rose and worn with 7”/17.75 of positive ease, based on Gabriella’s bust.

Sizes:

37.75 (44,47.75,52.75,55.5)(60.5,64.25,70.5)”
96(111.75,121.25,134,141)(153.75,163.25,177.75)cm around body, including collar.

Size is based on finished sweater. Choose the size that gives you about 6-8”/15.25-20.5 cm of positive ease for fit as shown. Sizes shown fit bust sizes from approx 30”- 64”/76.25-162.5cm. As noted above, making alterations for other sizes is explained in pattern.

Note: My sample sweater was knit in pieces and has a side seam in reverse stockinette. It does not have the k2 detail under each arm that I wrote into final pattern. See test knits to view actual side detail.
