This pattern will show you how to make your own gingerbread family including a gingerbread man, lady and baby! Add hanging loops to make them into decorations for your Christmas tree.

The pattern is written in American crochet terms and contain lots of photos to help you every step of the way.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished gingerbread man measures approx 8cm tall.

You will need the following colours:

Beige (approx. 38m)

White (approx. 5m)

Red (approx. 2m)

Please note= The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide.

You will also need:

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Finer black and pale pink yarn or thread for adding the buttons and facial details.

Thread or string to use for the hanging loop.

2 pairs of 6mm black safety eyes.

Toy stuffing.

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and stitch markers.
