The gingerbread man. For me, this delightful holiday treat will always hold a special place in my heart.

Before ever tasting one, a chipper stop-motion “The Gingerbread Man” tape never ceased to make me smile.
“Newly baked this morning, take a look at my tan!
Ha ha hey, I’m the Gingerbread Man.
Like a magic spell, I just appeared with a bang!
I’m the ginger…ginger, ginger, ginger…ginger ginger ginger bread man
From the tip of my toes, to the top of my head, I’m guaranteed, genuine gingerbread!”

A little later on in childhood, I enjoyed the more common tradition of baking, decorating and eating them. The funny thing was, we always used red hots for buttons because they looked nice…despite the fact that no one in my family liked to eat them. XD

As an adult, my family is now gluten free, but I still enjoy the nostalgia and now have an appreciation for their rich history.

Though gingerbread houses showed up around the 16th century, it wasn’t until Queen Elizabeth that they became gingerbread men. It was her idea to make gingerbread in the likenesses of foreign dignitaries when they visited.

So I hope you enjoy this pattern and create your own fun memories with the Gingerbread Man! :D
