Giraffe In A Scarf is knitted in soft West Yorkshire Spinners Chunky yarn with Stylecraft Special Chunky for the little pink feet and very long pink-and-red scarf (perfect for the windy Spring weather we’re having!)

Worked flat in knit stitch on 4.5mm straight knitting needles, and suitable for those with basic knitting experience. Giraffe’s body is made in two pieces- a front and a back- which are then sewn together. The legs are knitted separately and attached afterwards.

Giraffe measures 38cm tall when completed, and is a lovely companion for blustery Spring walks.

To make your Giraffe you will need

Chunky yellow yarn for the body and legs- we used a ball of West Yorkshire Spinners Chunky Roving Re:Treat in colour Mellow (221) (but you can use any chunky weight yarn you fancy)

  • Contrasting colour chunky yarn for the feet and scarf- we used about a third of a ball of Stylecraft Special Chunky in colour Watermelon (1839)
  • Small amounts of another contrasting chunky yarn for the scarf- you can use any chunky yarn you have in your stash, we used Stylecraft Special Chunky in colour Matador Red (1010)
  • 4.5mm straight knitting needles
  • Toy stuffing
  • Darning needle
  • A very little length of brown yarn for the eyes, we used Paintbox Simply Chunky in colour 310 but you can use any black, brown or grey yarn you like.
