With Two Stitch Pattern Options

With an evening or two and a yummy DK-weight yarn, you’re on your way to a quick and easy cowl that makes a great gift for a girlfriend (or yourself!). Try easy tweed stitch or even easier stockinette. What’s your fancy?

FINISHED SIZE
Tweed-stitch version: 21”/54cm circumference x up to 9½“/24cm deep.
Stockinette-stitch version: 21”/54cm circumference x up to 11”/28cm deep.

YARN
Pale Blue and Garnet versions:
1 skein Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk (146 yds/133m each). We used color 113 Ice for the tweed-stitch version and 138 Garnet for the stockinette version.

Pale green-aqua version: (yarn no longer in stock)
2 skeins Schachenmayr Mariette (85 yds/78m each). Shown in minty aqua color 8172 Sage.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 7 (4.5mm) 16”/40cm circular needle, or size to obtain gauge. Darning needle to finish.
Tweed-stitch version only: US 6 (4mm) 16”/40cm circular needle, or one size smaller than gauge needle.

GAUGE
Tweed-stitch version: 21 sts/approx. 37 rounds = 4”/10cm, after blocking.
Stockinette-stitch version: 18 sts/approx. 26 rounds = 4”/10cm, after blocking.
