The Darling Danger Dress - Now Available in Girls’ Sizes!

This is a fully tested pattern and includes a step by step photo tutorial and even links to a video tutorial I put together. You will receive a PDF of the pattern, and your download should begin as soon as your payment is processed. This is not a listing for the completed dress!

Crocheted in soft cotton, this dress is just the thing to keep your little one cool and cute on a summer day! This makes a wonderful flower girl, junior bridesmaid, holiday photo or special occasion dress and is a great birthday gift.

Why the name? My daughter’s middle name is Danger (long story short - it was my husband’s idea!) and when I made this dress for her she looked so darling I had to name it the Darling Danger dress.

• Written in US terminology

• Sizes available: 3T, 4T, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 - pattern is written in 3T with other sizes color coded in parenthesis.

• Note: especially in the larger sizes, the dress does run a little big. This can be nice for layering, but I suggest using a smaller hook for the bodice (4 or 4.5mm) if you would like a more snug fit. You may also want to size down. Measure your dress as you go so that you have a good sense of how it will fit.

• Intended measurements for a knee length dress:
• 3T: 20”chest, 23”length from top of strap to hem
• 4T: 21”chest, 25”length
• 5: 23.5” chest, 27” length
• 6: 25.5”chest, 29”length
• 8: 28”chest,34”length
• 10: 30”chest, 36”length
• 12: 32”chest, 38”length
• 14: 34” chest, 40” length

• Yarn: Worsted weight. A soft cotton or cotton and bamboo blend is ideal; you will want to use something with a good amount of drape. My samples were crocheted in “I Love this Cotton” from Hobby Lobby. I have also worked with LB Collection Cotton Bamboo with good results.

• Yardage: 540 - 1400 - Your yardage will depend on the size you are making as well as your yarn weight. I would recommend buying a little extra just to be sure you have enough yarn (never a bad idea!).

• Gauge: 15 dc and 9 rows = 4”

• Hook: H/5mm crochet hook, or use hook needed to obtain gauge. I suggest going down one or two hook sizes in the bodice for a more snug fit.

• Other materials: scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers (I use bobby pins).

• Difficulty: Easy to Intermediate

• Stitches (st./st.’s) used: Foundation double crochet (fdc), Foundation Single Crochet (fsc) , chain (ch.), Double Crochet (dc), Single Crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl.st.), Double crochet 2 together (dc2tog)

• Worked in the round from top to bottom with the seam on the side.
