What girl wants her ponytail smushed by a hat? This ponytail hat is the answer! And the perfect excuse to buy that fun skein of sock yarn, too.

The hat has a mock cable ribbing for extra style (no cable needle required), but it’s worked primarily in stockinette, so it’s easy enough for a beginner, or a breeze for someone more experienced. It’s worked flat and the button bands are worked right along with the main part of the hat so there is no seaming and no picking up stitches. The buttons allow you to wear a ponytail high, low, or in between and allow for a little extra creativity if you want to choose fun buttons.

This ponytail hat pattern has two sizes: small child (finished circumference 17”/ 43 cm/1-3 years) and large child (finished circumference 18”/ 46 cm/4-10 years).
