This coordinating hat and scarf set features a central cable motif bordered by smaller and slightly asymmetrical cables. Reversible cables on the scarf ensure the wearer will be free of worries about whether or not the “right” side is showing, as well as adding thickness and warmth. For the hat, single sided cables are used, making a quick knit that uses just one or two balls of yarn.

The central cable motif on both pieces always strike me as an open pair of hands, thus the name, “Give & Receive”. Knit one or both pieces as a gift for someone special and you’re sure to receive a heartfelt thank you in return.

Skills required beyond basic knit and purl include working cables (instructions are charted), decreasing, and knitting in the round. Pattern uses tubular cast-on (hat and scarf) and kitchener bind-off (scarf only); written instructions are provided for each technique.
