There’s something special about giving hand-knit items to someone you love—it’s our way of extending kindness and appreciation to those whom we treasure the most. These mitts were designed for knitters who want to simplify their holiday gift knitting. Make a few sets as gifts for friends and family, or, knit a stack and hand them out as small, random acts of kindness—especially to those in need of protection from the elements.

These classic woolens knit up quickly, making them the perfect, stress-free project for the season of giving.

Yarn
2 skeins of Istex Léttlopi (100% Icelandic sheep wool; Aran weight, 50g/100m) – one skein each in the color combination of your choosing.

Samples shown in main project photo are knit in the following colorways:

  • Middle pair: 0054 (ash heather) + 9426 (golden heather)
  • Side pair: 0051 (white) + 0057 (grey heather)

Yardage
One pair of mitts uses 36 (38) grams of yarn. Reversing the colors allows you to knit two pairs from the two skeins.

Gauge
5 stitches & 6 rounds = 1” in circular stockinette

Needles
One set of DPNs in size needed to obtain gauge; suggested: US 6 (4mm)

Finished Dimensions
S/M: 6.5” circumference at palm; 8” long
M/L: 7.25” circumference at palm; 8.25” long

Final measurements taken after blocking.
