Glistening Snowflake Hat
About the Pattern:
The Glistening Snowflake Hat was designed not just to look beautiful — but to make your knitting process smooth and supported.
This pattern comes in a JavaScript-powered PDF that allows you to select your size from a convenient drop-down menu. Once selected, only the charts, stitch counts, and written instructions for that size appear — no distractions, no size-hunting, and no mistakes from misreading. (Use the free Adobe Acrobat app for desktop or iOS, or the free Foxit PDF Editor app for Android.)
Want to see it in action? Watch this YouTube video previewing the fool-proof features of this PDF!
In the pattern, you’ll find two versions of the colorwork charts: one for experienced Doubleknitters, and one that includes every single stitch for those who are first learning Doubleknitting. For those who eschew charts, written instructions are also included, with interactive checkboxes to track your repeats. PDF bookmarks help you jump between sections easily.
This fully reversible hat begins with a two-stranded Brioche brim, transitions into a Doubleknit body with two-stranded colorwork and beads, and finishes with vertical decreases. And by adding snap-button pom poms you can mix and match for different looks, if you have multiple pom colors.
If you’re inspired by the design but deterred by the techniques, I have created resources especially for you! At Doing The Most Design, I believe: “There’s no such thing as a hard pattern, just techniques you haven’t met yet.”
Well, let me introduce you to them. I’ve created a 17-video YouTube tutorial series that walks you through every major skill in the pattern — plus even how to fix, not frog common mistakes. My test knitters said they learned new skills in just one sitting, and the videos aim to be both helpful and (hopefully) humorous.
Some bonus videos also dive into how Brioche works structurally, as well as how to choose yarns and beads that reflect your personal style. These are the things I wish I had known when I started — now passed along to you.
